Why we ask for ID on some purchases
As a responsible retailer, Holland & Barrett voluntarily restricts the sale of certain products which may not be suitable for those under the age of 16 or 18. These products are flagged with Challenge 25 at the till point to make sure we sell them responsibly.
This means that if you're buying something that is not intended for use by persons under the age of 16 or 18, like certain medicines or weight management products, and you look under 25, our store team may ask to see valid photo ID. This isn’t personal, it’s a simple way for us to help keep everyone safe.
If you’re ordering over the phone with us, we’ll ask you to confirm that you’re over 18 before completing your purchase.
Most age-restricted items will be clearly marked online and in-store, so you’ll usually know in advance. If you’re unsure whether something you’re buying has an age restriction, feel free to ask our team, we’re happy to help.
We understand that being asked for ID can sometimes feel frustrating, but our colleagues are just doing their job. By following this policy, we can continue offering products that support your health and wellness, while selling them in a safe and responsible way.
