Why we ask for ID on some purchases
At Holland & Barrett, we're here to help every body make informed choices. As a responsible retailer, we voluntarily restrict the sale of certain products that may not be suitable for people under the age of 16 or 18.
This includes some medicines, weight management products and other age-restricted items. To help us sell these products responsibly, we operate a Challenge 25 policy.
Buying in store
If you're buying an age-restricted product and you look under 25, one of our colleagues may ask to see a valid photo ID before completing your purchase.
We know this can sometimes feel a little inconvenient, but it's simply part of how we help protect our customers and support responsible retailing. It isn't personal, and we appreciate your understanding.
Ordering Click & Collect
If your Click & Collect order includes an age-restricted item, one of our colleagues will ask to see valid photo ID when you collect your order.
We'll remind you about this in your Ready to Collect email, so you know what to expect before you arrive.
Please remember to bring your photo ID with you. If you're unable to show valid ID when asked, we won't be able to hand over your order.
Ordering by phone
If you're placing an order over the phone that includes an age-restricted product, we'll ask you to confirm that you're aged 18 or over before we complete your purchase.
How will I know if a product is age restricted?
Most age-restricted products are clearly marked online and in store, so you'll usually know before you buy.
If you're ever unsure whether a product has an age restriction, just ask one of our colleagues. They'll be happy to help.
Why this matters
Our goal is to help every body feel supported on their wellness journey, while making sure products are sold safely and responsibly. Thank you for helping us do that.
