If you’ve received a Royal Mail tracking update or a “Something for You” card, your delivery might be waiting at a collection point, and you may have options to reschedule it. Here’s what to do:
Start by clicking the tracking link from Royal Mail. You might need to sign in to your account to view full tracking details.
The tracking page will show whether:
- Your item is at a collection point (such as a local Post Office® or Royal Mail Delivery Office), or
- You can arrange a redelivery to your home or an alternative location.
If Your Parcel’s at a Collection Point
You’ll find the location details and how long Royal Mail will hold the item either:
- On the tracking page, or
- On the “Something for You” card left by your postie.
Royal Mail usually keeps the item for 18 calendar days before sending it back to the sender.
When collecting your parcel, make sure you bring:
- Your “Something for You” card or the tracking information
- A valid photo ID (in the name of the person the parcel is addressed to)
If someone else is collecting it on your behalf, they may need to bring extra proof. Check Royal Mail’s website for full ID requirements.
Prefer to Have It Redelivered or Redirected?
You may be able to reschedule your delivery online. Visit Royal Mail’s “Change my delivery options” page. On the “Book a Redelivery” page, you can:
- Arrange free redelivery to your address (if it was a missed delivery)
- Redirect to a local Post Office®
- In some cases, redirect to a different address
Note: Some parcels (like those needing a signature or age verification) can’t be redirected to a different address.
Time-sensitive? Act Soon
Your parcel will only be held for up to 18 days, so be sure to:
- Collect it in time, or
- Arrange redelivery/redirect before it’s returned to the sender
Some redelivery requests may require 48 hours’ notice, so we’d recommend acting as soon as possible.
